Pat Forde of ESPN places UK as the 8th best team in the SEC, behind both Vandy and Mississippi. In doing so, he points out an obvious statistic that I've overlooked. Our two SEC wins have come by a combined two points.
UK is coming off of 6 good offensive quarters, a good showing against a ranked team, and is at home. Hopefully overconfidence is not an issue. The fact is, if UK does beat Vandy this weekend, it will stand as the season's signature win.

"Bad Scenario"
Everyone assumes that the BCS title game will now come down to the winner of the SEC championship game v. the winner of the Big 12 championship game. But assume everyone wins out until that game. You'll have Tech v. Mizzou (probably but irrelevant for this discussion) and 'Bama v. Fla. Suppose Tech and Fla. win. Tech will clearly be #1 (will have also beaten OU) but will Fla. be #2? Probably, but right now Texas is sitting ahead of Fla. in the BCS standings and won't have to (get to?) play the championship game under this scenario. My guess is the polls will vault Fla. over Texas, but you never know. A UT/Tech rematch would be a great game, but not the SEC v. Big 12 that the committee (and the fans) are hungry for.
Having said that, don't be shocked to see UT get in by virtue of OU beating Tech (who knows -- probably Alex -- how that tie-breaker would be decided) and UT beating Mizzou. And who out there doesn't think that Fla. is going to the BCS championship game?
By the way, is it too early to remove your tagline?
The tiebreaker between UT, T. Tech and Oklahoma would be division record, record against one another, then who was first in the BCS standings. So, if Okla. beats Texas Tech, it will be a close and controversial call, but wil be down to who the polls think is best. No way the odd man out gets placed ahead of the SEC Champ, though.
